GRASSLAND WEST FAQ
Q:  Should I use grass seeds or sod?

The following table should explain the advantages and disadvantages to each method:

Method Advantages Disadvantages
Seeds Inexpensive to implement Takes longer to establish
More varieties avail. Late summer/early fall only
Strong root systems initially Moisture critical for seedlings
Sod Establishes quickly Expensive to implement
Install can be any growing season Few grass choices
Good for slopes/erosion prone areas Few choices for shade tolerance

Q:  What do the 3 numbers on a fertilizer bag mean?

The numbers represent nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.  Nitrogen promotes plant growth, while phosphorus stimulates cell building, root growth and is particularly beneficial for establishing seedlings and developing flowers and vegetables.  Potassium promotes plant hardiness, disease resistance, as well as tolerance to temperature extremes.

Holistic Management is based on sustainable agriculture's tenets of environmental stewardship, economic viability and social responsibility.  It more accurately mimics the way nature functions and ensures sustainability for generations to come.
